This workshop aims to unite members of underrepresented groups in STEM, specially women, working in High-Performance Computing and related areas. This space is designed to improve the visibility of Members of these underrepresented groups as role models in this field, either working for the industry or the academy, and to catalyze the interaction and networking between
students, researchers, and professionals. Also, it brings panels for discussions with invited representatives from the Colombian government, Latin America decision makers, and WHPC local student communities. Walk-ins will be welcome. The workshop has no fee for participation.
The HPC community is only just beginning to measure how ‘leaky’ our pipeline is; particularly for women, attrition rates likely align with the general tech community figures: 41% of women working in tech eventually end up leaving the field (compared to just 17% of men).
A cornerstone of our workshop is inviting submissions from early HPC career members of underrepresented groups in STEM to present their work in HPC as a poster. For those who are chosen to present, there will be the opportunity to meet with leaders and employers from across the HPC community at this workshop, giving you an opportunity to discuss your work with them.
Submissions for posters are invited as extended abstracts (up to 2 pages) in any area that utilizes High-Performance Computing. Successful authors will be asked to provide a version of their work highlighting its goals, accomplishments, and impact to present on a poster.
# ABOUT THE SUBMISSIONS
Submissions are invited on all topics relating to HPC from users and developers. All abstracts should emphasize the impact of the work, such as the problem you are seeking to solve, the community benefits from investigating this work with or alongside HPC, the computational resources and/or facilities used, any challenges noted and/or overcame, as well as any other challenges you wish to highlight.
